Our service department is the heart of SBC. The service team can handle anything from basic flat repairs to full overhauls. We also service not only the bikes we sell but most any brand bicycle regardless of where it was purchased. Everyone wants to know the cost of a repair before the work is done, so we provide free estimates that can usually be done while you wait, no appointment necessary.
We know that everyone has different needs and therefore we have two approaches to bicycle service: Service Packages and A la Carte, where we work with you to decide what this best way forward to get your bike riding to meet your needs. Our service department is equipped with the knowledge and tooling to provide in depth suspension work, any hydraulic brake repair and electric bike repairs. Our service department has over 100 years of combined experience and is here to serve you and your bike!

BASIC SERVICE PACKAGES
We offer packages that will cover the bases for most recreational and utility bike needs. Service package A is the most basic option and covers adjustments and lubrication of all bike systems. Service Package B goes a few layers deeper to ensure like-new performance of those systems.
THE A LA CARTE
This approach is geared towards the bike that might only need parts of the above packages, or might need well beyond them. We can efficiently inspect your bike and develop a comprehensive service plan to best suit your needs. The A La Carte menu is limitless.

Why get a bike fit?
Among other reasons, a bike properly fit to the rider can increase comfort, help avoid injuries, assist in injury recovery and improve performance. Every bike purchase at Shenandoah Bicycle Company includes a basic bicycle fitting free-of-charge. We will select the right size bike for you, watch you ride the bike, and make any needed adjustments within the workable range of the frame size. These adjustment can include seat height and fore/aft adjustment, handlebar height, and fine-tuning all controls on the handlebar. No matter what bike you take home, we’ll make sure you are comfortable and ready to tackle the rides ahead.
Professional bike fitting
No two bodies are alike, making a proper bicycle fitting a highly-detailed process. SBC has a Level 3 Trek-Certified Fit Specialist in-house who can handle everything from minor tweaks for comfort and performance, to competition-focused strength and flexibility testing to get the best fit possible. We have successfully helped over a thousand people with fit issues, from daily commuters to world-class athletes and are happy to help you. Our professional fit rate is $70/hour

CUSTOM BIKE BUILDS
We would love to build a custom bike for you!
We certainly build stock bikes but are excited to offer customized bike builds. “Custom” doesn’t necessarily mean expensive. Bring us a frame, some parts, or just an idea, and we will build exactly what you want. From inexpensive commuters to high-end race machines, we’ll sit down with you and work out every detail. You will ride out of here with a bicycle that fits your body, your riding style, your personality, and your budget.
What is a custom bike build?
A customized bicycle is built from the frame up. It doesn’t come from a box pre-packaged with stock components and it’s not built around the ‘average’ person’s body or preferences.
We work closely with you to choose the frame, the components, and the accessories to produce a bicycle that meets your specific needs. With all custom builds there is a labor charge, all frames and forks are sold at MSRP, and components are discounted if all parts are purchased through our shop.

Many of our customers are traveling an hour or more for our quality service work. We are happy to schedule a repair so you can go home the same day with your freshly serviced bike. Call or email to schedule and appointment.

No, you do not need to call unless you want to schedule a same service day appointment.

We do repairs on all brands and styles of bike regardless of the age, new to antique. With over 100 years of service experience our team is happy to tackle any unique project you have.

Yes, we offer pick up and delivery service on repairs and new bikes. Fees depend on distance from the shop. Call us for more information

We can only give an accurate repair cost after we have evaluated the bike in person. We offer on the spot flat repairs for $12 ( excluding parts) and basic service packages from $30 and up. Estimates are always FREE!

Minor repairs like tube/tire changes we can usually do on the spot. We do offer 24 hour turnaround time on most repairs (part ordering can delay some repairs). Our goal is to get your repair done to fit your schedule and bike riding needs. We do offer appointments for same day service on most repairs. Call or email to schedule an appointment.

Yes, we work on electric bikes but not all wiring systems. We will only store batteries overnight if they are certified to national and international standards — including UL 2849 and the European standard, EN 15194.
PICKUP & DELIVERY
Feel like your bike needs some work, but don’t have time to come by the shop? Perhaps you don’t have an easy way to transport your bike to our downtown location? Shenandoah Bicycle Company offers pickup and delivery for bicycle repairs in the city of Harrisonburg. For a small fee, we’ll stop by your place of residence and take your bike to the shop, where we will call you with an estimate before doing any repairs. After the work is completed and checked over, we’ll deliver it back to you.
