Welcome to the latest cycling event calendar for Harrisonburg and vicinity. We list the latest cycling events from races to rides, trail maintenance and slide shows. If you have an event you want listed just drop us a line (contact us).

RIDES

Weekly

  • Monday Social Mountain Bike Ride: A casual beginner to intermediate ride put on by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition. For details check the Coalition's forum.
  • Monday Beginner Road Ride: A leisure pace road ride designed for those new to cycling. Ride will usually be 15+/- miles in about 1.5 hours. For more info check here.
  • Tuesday Fast Road Ride: Meet at Shenandoah Bicycle Company at 5:30pm. Ride will be 2-2.5 hours long at a fast past 20+mph. For details www.svbcoalition.org
  • Tuesday Road Time Trials: A 9.5 mile flat road time trail on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from May-Sept. Another great ride by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition.
  • Wednesday High School Road Ride: Leave from the new Harrisonburg High School at 5:15. The oldest weekly ride in the valley. Put on by the Shenandaoh Valley Bicycle Coalition.
  • Thursday SVBC Trail Work Evenings. The Coalition does trail work each Thursday evening from Spring to Fall. For location and details hit the Coalition Site.
  • Friday Six Pack Downhills: For the past 13 years this is a Fall Friday tradition. A casual off road ride deep in the mountains with a time downhill. For the ride location hit the SVBC Forum.

Monthly

  • Alleycat Bicycle Race/Scavengerhunt:
    A around town scavenger hunt in the City of Harrisonburg. A fun time, with fun folks on fun bikes. More info as the next event becomes organized.

Annually

  • Harris-Roubaix Ride "Celebration of Gravel Roads" April 12th 2009: A group for all with a little racing action for some. An event that travels some of beautiful gravel roads of Northern Harrisonburg. Info on the SVBC Events Page.
  • Virginia IMBA Mountain Bike Festival - May 2009 Stokesville Campground: A gathering of mountain bikers from all over the region to support IMBA and your local club.
  • Mountain Mama Road Bike Challenge August 2009: A beautiful ride in Monterey Virginia. Fundraiser for Highland County Recreation Commission. www.bikemountainmama.homestead.com
  • Shenandoah Valley Century September 14th, 2008: The 26th annual Century will return this fall, don't miss out on this Century Ride. Brought to you by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition.
  • Shenandoah Mountain Bike Festival October 10-12th, 2008: A great weekend of riding, trail work, camping and hanging out brought to you by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition.

Special Events/Meetings

  • Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) Monthly Social/Meeting: The second Monday of the Month at 7:30pm Clementine Cafe, Downtown Harrisonburg. All are welcome to this laid-back time, to talk about the latest local cycling scene and events.
  • Annual Rocktown Trail Run, benefiting SVBC April 2009 An annual trail running event at the Rocktown Trails at Hillandale Park. Here is the info.

Races

  • The Return of Dragons Back, April 5th: New course but same great technical fun. For details stayed tuned to Shenandoah Mountain Touring.
  • Middle Mountain Mama Mountain Bike Race, May 3rd: Always one of the best courses in the Country only 1.5 hours away at Douthat State Park. Here are the Details. Massanutten Yee Ha Downhill Race May 2009: One of the most popular downhill races on the east coast. This course uses the 1996 UCI World Cup downhill course. 2008 INFO.
  • Massanutten Hoo-Ha & Super D June 2009: A weekend of fun cross country racing and Super D racing on Massanutten Western Slope. 2008 INFO.
  • Lost River Cycling Classic Road Race July 25th: One of the few local road races around Harrisonburg, here are the few details so far.
  • Shenandoah Mountain 100 Mile Back Country Mountain Bike Race Labor Day Weekend 2009: One of the best endurance races in the Country, right here in our back yard. Put on by Shenandoah Mountain Touring.
